China Retail Seminars and Consulting

Challenge:

Through Richard Vorisek's long term experience and professional network in Asia, RVA was approached by Tony Zhong, Founder and CEO of Blue Space Enterprise, Management, Consulting Company (EMCC), Ltd. to come up with a program to expose their key China-based retail clients to global retail trends and to offer key and actionable solutions for a broad range of retail challenges and opportunities. Mr. Zhong had been looking for a U.S.-based consulting firm with expertise in these areas and a firm with similar core brand values.

Solution:

RVA jumped at the challenge and agreed to develop an all-encompassing Plan starting with the development of a 4-day program entitled ‘360 degrees of Retail Excellence’. The format was created as a series of seminars focusing on areas of: merchandising, planning and allocation, trend forecasting, product development, e-commerce, marketing and brand development. Founder/CEO Richard Vorisek and Mary Hamilton, President of RVA agreed to conduct the seminars and their hands-on approach was extremely interactive and participatory. Elements of the program consisted of one-on-one workshops, breakout sessions, instructional presentations, homework assignments and competitive shopping excursions.

Results:

Over several months, while Team RVA developed the extensive and proprietary '360 degrees of Retail Excellence' program, Blue Space marketed the program to their client base and also through social media channels. Due to the positive response, Team RVA spent almost 3 week's working in China (Shanghai, Shenzhen, Ningbo) with a total of sixteen highly diversified domestic men’s & women’s retailers ranging in size from a newly formed luxury brand with 80+ boutiques to mid-level brands with 600+ channels of distribution and even a fast-retailer with over 10,000 stores.

In June 2014, based on the very positive client feedback and the opportunities that have arisen as a result of this series, RVA and Blue Space, Ltd formed a strategic consulting alliance in China. Current projects either confirmed or in development are in areas of marketing, brand identity and strategy, e-commerce/CRM, distribution, merchandise assortment & planning and store design.
